This site brought back many a memory, as a young lad I used to play around the tower. We used to climb the walls and use a rope swing from one of the chestnut trees as well as playing conkers. Never managed to view inside the tower, so will take the opportunity next time I visit mum and dad who still live in Clackmannan.

I recently discovered that my 17th great grandfather was Sir Robert Bruce, 2nd Baron of Clackmannan, who lived at Clackmannan Tower. I look forward to my third trip to Scotland and visiting Clackmannan in 2014 with my wife and seeing where my ancestors walked. Slainte!

Just moved back to Clackmannan. Love the view from the Tower, and think that Clackmannan is a very underrated place.

I visited Clackmannan in July of 1981 and it looks mercifully unchanged in the photos. My sister, my nephew and his family and I were in Scotland two years ago for The Gathering where we became acquainted with the Earl of Elgin and other members of our Bruce clan. I and about two dozen of my family members plan to attend the celebration of 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn in 2014. Many if not all of us will certainly visit Clackmannan during our stay. We are already excited about our visit even though we have another three years to wait!

Hello! Enjoyed your website. I have been doing some research on my ancestors and found that a great majority of them were from Clackmannan. So I was looking for info on what it was like. Your site helped a lot. Thanks!
