When I learned that my great-great-great grandparents (Alexander Patterson & Mary Fife) were both born in Clackmannan, a place I had never heard of, I wanted to learn more about it. Thanks for helping to satisfy my curiosity!

I found this website while browsing for family information. Nice to be able to see some photos of the local points of interest from here in New Zealand.
My Great Great Grandparents (William Drysdale b. abt June 1829 & Margaret Matthew b. abt Dec 1828) where both born & married (Nov 1849) in Clackmannan. I am unsure whether they were born in the township of Clackmannan or in the area around Clackmannan though.
William died in 1874. Margaret & most of the family came to New Zealand to settle in the late 1870's and early 1880's.
If anyone has information on the Drysdale or Matthew families I would love to hear from them.
Keep up the good work on the web site - it is great to be able to look at Clackmannan from afar! Cassandra

Clackmannan Tower! Walked my dogs here as a boy and always wanted to see inside. Live in Falkirk now but good to see the old place with it's own website, which is pretty good btw.

Born and bred in Clackmannan,as all of my family. I moved to Glasgow after marriage, but still have strong interest in Clackmannan life and history. Very good website which I have just discovered. I used to go for walks around the Tower but was never able to go in. I used to look down to the Arns farm and was able to see as far as Kincardine.
